Healthcare assistants (HCAs) support clinicians with their daily work and carry out the following tasks:
- Assisting the GP with implant and coil fittings or removals
- Blood pressure measurement
- Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
- Health checks
- Height and weight measurements
- Influenza vaccinations
- New patient checks
- Pneumococcal vaccinations
- Smoking cessation advice
- Spirometry
- Urinalysis (for urine infections or cystitis)
HCAs may also act as a chaperone when a patient or clinician requests one.
